Who is PARKKR? Meet the prolific Alabama creator destined for success

PARKKR is a man of many hats; he’s a rapper, producer, engineer, visual artist and fashion designer rolled into one.  However, it’s music that takes up the most of his time, and it shows.

The Mobile, Alabama native is a prolific indie rapper who channels artists like Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar and Ab-Soul, but his unique sound makes him stand out from all the greats before him and his combination of sonic versatility and confidence is what keeps him going.

“Overall, my goals and focuses as an artist on the creative side of things is to be more of a pioneer [rather than] a contemporary,” PARKKR explained.  “I try to combine different elements to make stuff that’s not only unique, but still enjoyable to the average consumer, whether they listen to rap or not.”

PARKKR’s production skills are showcased on his most recent full-length project Kid Wicked REWIRED, an experimental project that lies at the intersection between glitch rap and old school boom bap, according to the man himself.

“I consider myself an MC first, but I love producing as well…so usually about half of the stuff I put out is generally self-produced,” PARKKR said.  “As far as engineering goes, I record and engineer all of my own stuff on my own equipment [because] for the time being, it’s extremely cost effective and convenient, it pushes me to hone in on my mixing and engineering skills and it gives me a lot more creative control — especially on the vocal side of things.”

“Half of my recent stuff that I’ve been putting out deals with a ton of different vocal layers with weird effects and filters on them, and I’m able to spend hours at a time at my own studio just experimenting with stuff like that,” he added.  “Re-recording, making a new mix, hating the new mix and then repeating the process until I’m satisfied on my own timetable.”

Staying on his own time and in his own lane is exactly what’s in the cards for PARKKR; he’s got “a few” different projects he’s working on, including a self-produced and engineered two-side single titled “HOME,” which he describes as more jazzy and soulful.

He’s also increasing the rate he performs live, moving away from rapping over backing tracks to performing with a live band, proving that the work he does inside the studio is transitioning quite well to the stage and beyond.  Sit back and enjoy, as it’s going to be a great experience watching PARKKR maintain his upward trajectory in the music world.
