This song means a lot to me because I collaborated with two of my best friends: Morten Lava, the producer, and Alejandro Montoya who co-wrote it with me and was also on background vocals. I’ve always wanted to make music with the people I love, and it feels so good to have it out.
After a single listen through this song, it’s no wonder why Juliana is thrilled to have this song out there for the world to stream. It’s a wondrous example of her sonic and lyrical talents, with both being put on a pedestal by the time “Never Be Yours” reaches its final moments. What started out as more of an acoustic R&B track ultimately developed into a playful Afrobeats/Latin record that has incredible replay value.
